Letter to Readers
Book 3 has been nominated!
With this latest publication to The TAKEN Series, I'm excited to announce The Pulse of My Heart's nomination to the Outstanding Creator Awards literary competition this year! Every entry receives an editorial review, and many entries in such literary competitions receive reviews from their judging committees. Authors timidly await these particular reviews as they are uncertain of how well their work will be received by critics.
My debut novel, the first in this series, TAKEN, was no stranger from receiving harsh criticism upon nomination for several literary awards for its audacity to share the same romance subgenera of Time Travel Romance based in a historical setting, and had prose and characters who leaned seriously into realism found in the quality of another, much older and highly popular series whose abundant fanbase was quick to criticize TAKEN, and rate it the lowest of ratings on the rating scale. These ratings can easily be found today on well known retailer websites and on reading forums.
Fans holding particular affection for this mentioned widely familiar time travel series written by another author discovered my debut novel, and sought to cripple its success from the outset out of spite and in defense of their love for this older series by not only harming it through bogus negative reviews but reaching as far as to claim plagiarism in my book. They also have maliciously gone after readers who expressed their interest and admiration for my book series by attacking them in comment sections on social media. This behavior according to my values is reprehensible. As a result of their abrasive actions toward readers who are supportive of me, their venomous comments were immediately deleted along with their profiles being blocked on social media platforms where these attacks have occurred. I will defend all of my readers who've shown nothing but politeness and kindness toward me and others from being belligerently harassed by individuals who can do nothing but attack others for their differences in opinions.
Additionally, if one were to read these particularly lowest rating reviews given by such individuals, it's easy to conjecture that either my debut novel was never read by the reviewer, or they resented the challenge my story presented to them for reasons that are clearly not objective: noting that society does not live in a vacuum where creative thought and the expression of it is an isolated occurrence specific to one human being. Therefore, ideas are exchanged and evolve among people according to newer perceptions attained through each individual's constitution given through unique experiences. This understanding is inarguably exemplified in the execution of Visual Art, Music, Literature, Mathematics, Science, Philosophy and Politics throughout recorded time as people inherently influence each other and does not qualify for plagiarism, which exactly replicates expressed ideas in mediums of writing, music and visual art.
So, to every single one of you who has read my work and has found value in it, I solute you for your independence of mind and thank you beyond words for risking a chance in supporting my endeavor to tell you a story.
And an immense thank you to such literary award committees who welcome free thought by exercising objectivity in their critical evaluations examining literature. To read about my inspiration for TAKEN and award reviews, please click the links on the buttons below.
Thank you.
